International choral competitions in Tokyo and Taipei

In July Ēriks will travel to Asia where he will serve on the jury panel of the Tokyo and Taipei international choral competitions. Ēriks will join conductor and composer Cristian Grases (Venezuela/US), composer Levente Gyöngyösi (Hungary) and conductor Pasi Hyökki (Finland) for both competitions, as well as conductors Jennifer Tham (Singapore) and Fumiaki Kuriyama (Japan) and composer Makiko Kinoshita (Japan) in Tokyo and conductors Jonathan Velasco (The Philippines), Chia-Fen Weng (Taiwan) and fellow countryman Jānis Liepiņš in Taipei.

The 2019 Tokyo International Choir Competition will be held 25–28 July in Dai-ichi Seimei Hall, Tokyo and will see performances of 57 choirs with KammerChor Saarbrücken and conductor Georg Grün as special guest choir. The 2019 Taipei International Choral Competition will be held 30 July – 2 August and will feature eight categories: Children, Youth, Senior, Equal Voice, and Mixed Choirs as well as Musica Sacra, Ethnic & Traditional Music, and Contemporary Music. The competition is part of the larger 2019 Taipei International Choral Festival which runs 26 July – 4 August. Both competitions are co-founders of the World Choral Championship, alongside the international choral competitions of Krakow and Rimini.
