Call for choirs: International Baltic Sea Choir Competition 2018

From September 21–23, Ēriks will be presiding the jury of the 3rd International Baltic Sea Choir Competition, which will be held in the seaside town of Jūrmala just outside the Latvian capital Riga. High level male, female, and mixed amateur choirs of 16–49 singers are invited to apply before March 1.

All choirs will perform at the opening concert on Friday evening (Sep 21) and in two competition categories on Saturday (Sep 22). The five best performers will be selected by an international jury to compete in the finals on Sunday (Sep 23). Winners of the Grand Prix will take home € 3,500, the 2nd and 3rd place € 2,000 and € 1,500 respectively. Special prizes are awarded for the best conductor and best performer of the compulsory work. 

The winner of last year’s competition was New Dublin Voices and conductor Bernie Sherlock (Ireland), followed by the Koper Music School Girls Choir and Maja Cilenšek (Slovenia) and the Härlanda Chamber Choir and David Molin (Sweden).
